Michael brings more than 30 years of cooking experience, from busy restaurant kitchens to weddings and private dining. He’s happiest when creating simple, tasty food that feels homemade.
Viv has a strong background in wedding coordination, events, and interior design. Brilliant with details, she brings a calm, friendly energy and loves taking time to talk things through so every couple feels truly looked after.
Settling in the Cumbria area feels like the perfect fit for us. Surrounded by a wealth of local food producers and their fresh, honest ingredients, creating new dishes and menus comes naturally. With the lakes as our backdrop, our menus are continually inspired by the landscape, the fells, and the changing seasons.
OUR ROOTS
Fennel & Clove was born during lockdown, when Michael’s creativity was suddenly brought to a halt. Looking for a way to keep his hands busy, he began making homemade real pork pies using local ingredients. Often folding in the hardy perennial fennel seed, and the warm, aromatic spice of clove, these two simple flavours became the heart of the name Fennel & Clove.
Michael began sharing his pies on Instagram, and his reputation quickly grew. Today, Fennel & Clove Catering Company sits firmly in the mainstream wedding market, with Michael known for delivering simple, seasonal, and truly memorable food, while Viv ensures every couple feels cared for every step of the way.
